Hay baths
The plants that are used for the "hay baths" are found at an altitude of between 1200 and 1500 meters.
Hay from the fields has always been used to fight bone pain in the Trentine valleys and the valleys of the Alto Adige. There was no better relief for rheumatism than to throw oneself on a bed of newly cut hay to warm the body and provoke excessive sweating. This ancient custom was recently rediscovered and today it is possible to try true "hay baths" that are effective in the cure of many osteoarticular diseases.
Many plants species make up this very precious hay:
oyster plant, pasqueflower, clover, plantain, mouse-ear hawkweed, primula, gentian, arnica, blueberry, etc.
The plants are gathered in July in fields at an altitude of 1200-1500 meters. The plants are dried in the mountains and then brought down.
The cure takes place in special tubs with a grill-like bottom upon which the hay, previously revitalized and warmed up, is placed as if it were a light mattress. The patient lies in the tub, is covered with more hay, and is wrapped in a blanket. A jet of steam, which is controlled by a computer, constantly regulated the heat, comes out of the tub.
After a session of about 20 minutes, the patient takes a revitalizing shower followed by a relaxing massage. A moment of rest is recommended in an airy and quiet place.
The hay bath can be a valid complement for weight-loss, antistress and detoxifying therapies.
